Health Science Programs

Welcome to the Department of Health Science Programs at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Academic programs in nineteen different health-related areas are offered through the Department.

The programs fall into two distinct categories: degree programs and pre-professional programs.

A Bachelor of Science Degree is offered in:

The pre-professional programs include:

The Health Science Programs Office coordinates all the academic programs offered by the department.  The office primarily assists students by providing academic advising.  Students can also receive information about career choices, information relating to specific professional schools and clinical programs, and assistance in making application to these schools and programs.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney is very proud of the success that our students have enjoyed in gaining admission to these professional schools and clinical programs.  The overall acceptance rate of UNK students to all our various health programs has been approximately 70% over the last ten years.

Following are some comments by professionals about the level of preparedness of UNK students:

I have been a faculty member at the UNMC College of Pharmacy since 1973.  During that time, I have had the opportunity to teach many students who have done their pre-pharmacy work at UNK.  I feel that the pre-pharmacy program at UNK does an excellent job of preparing these students for pharmacy college.  An additional plus for UNK is the Health Related Education Programs who show sincere concern for and interest in the students.

Associate Professor, UNMC

I find students entering Mary Lanning School of Radiologic Technology following pre-radiology course work at UNK prepared both academically and emotionally.  These students are very motivated, working hard to accomplish their goals.  They demonstrate the personal integrity and flexibility needed to succeed in this challenging health care field.
