The Information Technology program is designed for people who want a career in a variety of IT-related areas, such as system administration, computer security, web development, systems analysis, user support, database development, and more. It is concerned with helping users meet their IT needs within an organizational through the planning, selection, creation, application, integration and management of computing technologies. IT professionals can be found working in all types of organizations, including large corporations, hospitals, educational units and government agencies, small and medium sized companies, or alone as freelancers.

IT Major Option: 36 credit hours
- Three main areas of emphasis:
- System Administration (and security) - Sys Admins are usually charged with installing, supporting and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages, security breaches and other problems. No two days are the same for sys admins - plus technology keeps advancing.
- Web Development - Web Developers specialize in the development of web applications, Some web developers work for one organization as a permanent full-time employee, while others may work as independent consultants.
- General IT - pick your own IT specialty areas.
Minor Option: 24 credit hours
- A broad foundation in information technology that can be combined with any major area.

- System Administrator: Set up, manage and maintain computer systems and networks for a company.
- Systems Analyst: Help an organization reach their goals by solving computer problems and planning and developing new computer systems.
- Database Developer: Develop and modify new and existing database systems and design and plan the implementation of new database systems.
- Web developer/Webmaster: Design and create websites. Responsible for content management and all technical aspects of a website, such as access speed and security.
- Computer Security Analyst: Responsible for network intrusion monitoring and information security event detection for a business. Develops and communicates information security policies and procedures. Works closely with server, network operations, and applications development to ensure integrity of security procedures, systems, and policies.
- Application Developer: Identify user requirements and develop information systems.
- Information Systems Manager: Plan, coordinate and direct research and facilitate the computer-related activities. Determine technical and business goals and make detailed plans for the accomplishment of these goals.
- Computer Support Specialists: Provide technical assistance, support, training and advice to customers and other users.
