We strive to prepare students of high character and ethical standards for eventual leadership within the employment areas of law enforcement, corrections, and the courts.
While the Department offers 25 specific courses in Criminal Justice, additional multidisciplinary coursework is required in other related areas of social science. Two types of majors are available, the comprehensive option which does not require a minor; or the major with a minor option. Additionally, students majoring in other disciplines may minor in Criminal Justice.
In addition to preparing students for employment in the fields of law enforcement, corrections, and the courts, the Department cultivates an understanding of present and historical trends of crime and criminal methodology, while acquainting students with current literature and research pertaining to the administration of justice.
