Almost all faculty in the Chemistry Department have continuing research projects in which we involve students. Conducting research can be the most valuable and enjoyable part of a student's chemistry education. For the second consecutive year, the Chemistry Department sponsored a research apprentice program for freshman chemistry majors.
Research apprentices . . .
- Worked individually with a chemistry faculty member (and in some cases one of his or her current research students) on original research!
- Learned about advanced lab techniques and equipment used in research projects!
- Became eligible for a $150 scholarship upon completion of the 24-hour apprenticeship!
- Will have opportunties in the future to do research for course credit or summer employment (depending on the project and available funding)!
