ANALYSIS OF UNK’S STATEWIDE ECONOMIC IMPACT:
In early 2012, UNK commissioned a group of independent economists at Economic Modeling Specialists, Int., (EMSI) to help the university better understand its economic and social impact in the State of Nebraska, using university data, public databases and national studies and surveys from 2010-11. EMSI, headquartered in Moscow, Idaho, is a leading provider of socioeconomic impact and strategic planning tools to colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada.

ANALYSIS OF UNK’S LOCAL ECONOMIC IMPACT:
In 2009-2010, UNK Economist Dr. Bree Dority conducted a study of UNK’s impact on the local economy (Buffalo and Kearney Counties) in collaboration with Shawn Kaskie, Director of UNK’s Center for Rural Research and Development. Using existing data, direct surveys, and IMPLAN software, they traced the flows of spending attributable to UNK operations and activities and identified changes in output and jobs due to this activity.
