2005 Don Fox Memorial Lecturer Dr. Ralph Svenningsen
The Department of Chemistry will host the annual Don Fox Memorial Lecture on Sunday, October 2 and honor 1982 KSC chemistry graduate, Dr. Ralph Svenningsen. who earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. In 1989, he joined the Hoechst Celanese Corporationâ€™s Dyes/Pigment Research & Development division as a Senior Research Chemist. His duties included the synthesis of and process development for fiber reactive dyes and improvements for azo pigments with emphasis on developing new products. He is currently a Chief Production Chemist at the Hoechst Celanese/Clariant Corporation, where he is responsible for supervising batch operations for production of azo pigments and coordinating quality control/analytical results to optimize quality and production of pigment products.
The customary banquet and public lecture will be held on the evening of Sunday, October 2. Dr. Svenningsen will present chemistry classroom presentations -- which are open to UNK faculty and students -- on Monday, October 3 at 8:00 and 11:15 a.m.
