The Kearney Symphony Orchestra also has needs that do not fall into the standard categories, as noted by KSO Conductor Deborah Freedman: "There are two instruments we would like to have purchased for the use of the Kearney Symphony: a celeste and a harpsichord. The celeste was popularized by Tchaikovsky in his 'Nutcracker Ballet' and has been used in many 20th century works including the 'Harry Potter' music. The harpsichord is called for in all Baroque period music and has been rediscovered in much of the 20th century, especially in works by Poulenc and Vasks."

Each of these instruments cost about $10,000, although a share toward purchase of these instruments would be welcome. Shares of $100 each could be donated toward final purchase of either or both of these instruments.
