Summer in Puebla, Mexico
Experience: The main purpose of this two week exchange is to provide preservice educators with a first-hand experience of the Mexican Educational System in the hope of developing a better understanding of the growing migrant population in public schools.
Culture: To live a culture is to understand it, and this exchange provides its participants with several opportunities to be immersed in Mexican culture.
Language: UPARP has created a two week Spanish course especially for this experience that will focus on the needs of educators.
Goals:
- Gain a better understanding of education in Mexico.
- Learn about Mexican culture through observation and direct participation.
- Develop an understanding for the educational needs of migrant communities.
Activities:
- Work in a Mexican public school
- Attend a Mexican University
- Home stay with Mexican host families
- Guided evening events in the City of Puebla
- Learning to use public transportation
- Visit to Mexico City, Local cultural sites, and historical Teotihuacan
Language of Instruction:
Courses are taught in English.
