As a community of learning, the University of Nebraska Kearney values cultural diversity.  Ultimately, we aim to prepare all our students to live productive and satisfying lives in a world of increasingly interdependent and interactive nations.  A diverse student body strengthens the university academically, enriches the campus living and learning experience for all students, and enlarges the educational and service roles the university plays in its community and state.  Through the Achievement Recognition Reception, we celebrate the energies and accomplishments of the many members of our international community whose contributions make the University of Nebraska Kearney a better educational Institution.

The University of Nebraska Kearney’s Office of International Student Services (ISS) serves over 348 international students from 43 countries.  We are pleased to congratulate the outstanding members of this community recognized today.  They truly are among the university’s best and brightest.

The first celebration of this kind was held at UNK on Saturday, April 25, 1998.  For Spring 2005, we will honor 177 students for their academic achievement, 24 for leadership distinction, and 21 graduates.  Students recognized for academic excellence are those who have attained a Fall 2004 cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better.  We also recognize those who have taken leadership positions in campus student organizations and activities.  And finally, we would like to recognize and congratulate our international graduates!
