Medical Insurance

The University of Nebraska system requires F-1 and J-1 visa holders to have medical insurance to cover the cost of medical treatment. If you purchase your own medical insurance, please make sure that it meets the following requirements:

  • Deductible must be $500 or less
  • Unlimited major medical coverage including pre-existing conditions
  • Unlimited medical evacuation and repatriation
  • Coverage must be paid in full for the entire semester
  • Maximum out-of-pocket coverage is $2,500 or less

To submit your policy for approval, please use the following link: https://www.admin.renstudent.com/Waivers/Account/LogOn?Origin=NEUNKYW. Your policy must include your full name, dates of coverage and explanation of coverage. The policy must be in English and U.S. dollar amounts. Recently admitted international students will not be able to complete this process until registered for classes at UNK.

If you do not purchase your own medical insurance, you will automatically be enrolled in University of Nebraska Studentblue medical insurance. The cost for the insurance will be $838.12 U.S. Dollars each semester.
