Congratulations on being admitted as a student at UNK. We hope that the years you spend at UNK will be a rewarding experience for you. Click HERE to see what some of our international alumni say about their time spent at UNK. Before you arrive in Kearney, there are many important tasks that must be accomplished in order for you to make a smooth transition to the U.S. and also to make sure that you are prepared to live in Kearney and begin your studies.
Please use the links below and on the left and follow all of the instructions. By completing each of these tasks, you will be well prepared for life as a Loper!
Now that you have been accepted as a student at UNK, CLICK HERE for instructions on the tasks you now need to complete in a timely manner.
UNK requires that all incoming students complete a Pre-enrollment Health Form and submit copies of their immunization records that show two MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations after their first birthday. Go to MyBLUE and look under the Profile section for the Immunization link to complete this process. Certified English translations are required for all non-English documents submitted.
IMPORTANT: The completed form and copy of the required immunizations must be received in order for you to register for classes. If you do not submit or bring copies of your immunization records, you will be required to complete the vaccinations when you arrive and will need money to pay for these vaccinations.
A TB (tuberculosis) skin test must be completed after you arrive in Kearney. Please do not have this test done at home. This will be completed during your new student orientation activities. You will need $70 to pay for this.
Please also note that both UNK and the State of Nebraska highly recommend the meningitis immunization for all students living on campus. Meningitis is a rare but highly contagious disease that can have devastating health consequences. The cost for this vaccination is $70.
It is also required that all international students have medical insurance while attending UNK. Medical insurance is available through Student Health Services. See International Student Health Insurance Requirements for complete information.
