Kearney has a population of over 30,000 and is located in central Nebraska. It is west of Omaha and Lincoln, the two major cities in Nebraska. When you travel to Nebraska, you can fly into either Omaha, Lincoln, or you can fly directly to Kearney. It is most effective to fly directly into the Kearney Regional Airport on Great Lakes Airlines via the Denver, Colorado International Airport. If you fly directly into Kearney, UNK will arrange ground transportation for you to our campus at no cost (if you advise us of your arrival time). Travel to UNK via Lincoln or Omaha will result in added expenses and time delays due to the distance of travel to campus; possible overnight stays may be necessary to accommodate your flight time and bus schedule to travel to Kearney. It takes three hours to drive to Kearney from Omaha, and two hours from Lincoln. You can travel from either city to Kearney by Eppley Express, a bus service that brings you from either airport directly to campus. If you are traveling by Eppley Express, please inform reservations that you are a new UNK International Student and need to be taken directly to campus. Remind the driver again when you depart and this will save you time waiting for a ride to the University from the motel (Country Inn Suites), where the bus regularly stops. Please try to arrange your travel so that you arrive during office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Enclosed is a copy of the most recent schedule for Eppley Express from both Lincoln and Omaha. If you need to stay overnight in Omaha or Lincoln in order to take the Eppley Express bus the next day, please make hotel reservations. In Omaha, we recommend that you stay at either the Airport Ramada Inn (1-402-342-5100), the Sleep Inn near the Airport (1-402-397-3700), or the Best Western Central on 72nd and Grover Streets (1-402-397-3700.) In Lincoln, we recommend that you stay at the Best Western Airport Inn (1-402-475-9541). These hotels have 24-hour shuttle service to and from the airport. The Eppley Express bus picks up passengers at these hotels and at the airport. Accommodations in Kearney can be assessed by visiting the web site: www.kearneycoc.org. You may get a less expensive rate if you mention that you are a student coming to UNK.
