Once in Kearney

DI_welcomeKearneyYou are expected to arrive in the USA by the report date indicated on item #5 of your I-20 (F-1) or item #3 on the DS-2019 (J-1). The report date is scheduled prior to the day classes convene to enable mandatory immigration registration and adjustment. You have many things to accomplish before school starts.

UNK offers important orientation activities before the academic term begins to acquaint you with the campus, the community and with U.S. Immigration requirements. U.S. consulates and embassies will usually issue the F-1 visa/DS-2019 no more than 30 days before the report date.

If you must arrive later than your stated report date, contact the International Admissions Office at UNK as soon as possible. You may be required to have new documents!

Check In at ISS: All international students must report to the International Student Services Offices located in Welch Hall, on West Campus for check-in and SEVIS registration. Bring the following documents with you:  Form I-20/DS-2019, passport, I-94 card, along with any other documents the port of entry official may have given you during your arrival. Likewise, if you will be using your own home country issued health insurance, you must present a copy of the policy (or card) that lists the coverage so it can be reviewed for minimum requirements and approval. You will be asked to submit a UNK Insurance Waiver Form. Our office is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Open Registration – Scheduled for the Friday before classes convene and continuing through the first week of classes, ending on the next Friday. Follow the instructions listed in the class schedule. The Registrar’s Office and the Academic Advising Office will provide help with registration. Please let us know if you have any problems registering for classes. You will need your ID number to register. When registering, you will be asked to enter a 6-digit PIN (Personal identification number) of your choice.
