Thank you for your interest in participating in the International Friendship Program. You will find this to be a rewarding experience that will great enhance your education at UNK and your enjoyment of the community.
The duration of the commitment is one year. However, most often the friendship lasts throughout the student’s stay in Kearney and even beyond. The time commitment does not need to be great. It is our hope that students and families will connect once or twice a month. You are free to get together more frequently if you like.
Please keep in mind that this program does not involve financial support, transportation or housing. If you ask your family to provide these services, you may be asked to leave the program.
Please complete the application form that you will find on this page. Once you have completed the form, bring it to my office in Welch Hall 108, or email it to ffp@unk.edu. When your application is received, you will be contacted to set up an interview. Once the application process is complete, you will be matched up with a family so you can begin this exciting adventure!*
*While it is our desire that every student have a family or individual through the International Friendship Program, due to the popularity of this program amongst students and the limited number of families and individuals who participate, we regret that we cannot guarantee a family or individual for short term students.
