Darin Himmerich is starting his sixth season at UNK, having arrived in 2007 with an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of South Dakota. This year, he will again head up the scenery construction at UNK. In addition to his Technical Direction at UNK, Darin has recently put his Design degree to use working on such shows at Rabbit Hole (UNK), Mauritius (Nebraska Repertory), and All Shook Up (Black Hills Playhouse). This past summer, he worked on a film for UNL's Johnny Carson of Theatre & Film. Previously, Darin worked as an Assistant Designer at the Omaha Community Playhouse where he designed Member of the Wedding and Black Comedy. He also served as the Technical Director for the Lincoln Community Playhouse, where he built over 27 productions and designed scenery for six productions, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Amadeus. Darin also spent seven years working in scene shops in Hollywood where he built scenery for CNN, TBS, Lifetime, the State of California, and Disneyland. Darin is looking forward to another year of working with the students here at UNK.
