Deborah FreedmanDeborah Freedman, (Director of Kearney Symphony Orchestra) (Ronald J. Crocker Chair of Orchestra - Associate Professor) served for twenty years as Music Director of the St. Joseph Symphony and Professor of Music at Missouri Western State University. She has served as Music Director of the Maryland Women's Symphony, Luther College Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Choir and Chrysalis Singers and the Cyllenian Chamber Ensemble. Dr. Freedman also has held conducting positions with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and the West Green Bay High School Orchestra. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota and her Master's and D.M.A. from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. During her tenure in Missouri, Dr. Freedman directed the Lawrence Chamber Players, UMKC Orchestra, Festival Orchestras, the LaCrosse Symphony, the Liberty Symphony and the Women Composers' Orchestra's tenth anniversary performance in Baltimore. In 2000, she was invited to conduct the International Women's Brass Conference Brass Ensemble in St. Louis. She was a guest conductor at the 2003 American Guild of Organists Convention.
