Dr. Aaron Dimock

Background
While I have held a number of different positions, from a job safety and first aid trainer, to an aid in a public and government relations firm, most of my experience has been in educational settings.  I taught high school speech, coached debate, and was a counselor and teacher in a juvenile rehabilitation center before completing my M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including biking, backpacking, rock climbing, and fly fishing.

Philosophy

"Communication is fundamental to the way people build relationships, understand the world around them, and influence others.  As a teacher I try to challenge my students to understand how communication influences their lives and also to improve their own communication skills. I study public argument and rhetoric, as well as language and social interaction. I have published research on public meetings (such as city council meetings, school board meetings, etc.), and have presented research on juvenile offenders, social identity, rhetorical theory, and argumentation."
