Teaching Philosophy
I am committed to an interdisciplinary approach to teaching. I also teach from a feminist perspective, which means that I show how sex, gender, sexuality, race, and class fit with whatever we are learning in sociology. To me, those are key to seeing the world with both eyes wide open. I work to help students accomplish whatever they want. I encourage research, help students present at conferences, publish their research and then apply for graduate school if they want. I have an interest in looking at life from a global perspective as well. In May 2007, I took students to Thailand where they had the opportunity to feel and see the issues we talk and read about in class. I believe this really makes a difference.
