Thorough inspections of residence halls have been completed to determine the presence of asbestos and lead based paint materials. Asbestos and lead based paints are safe when left undisturbed. Generally asbestos may be present in floor tiles, sprayed ceilings of the towers and plumbing insulation. To ensure your safety, do not drill into, chip, break apart, sand, carve, cut into, or in any way disturb your floor, ceiling, pipe insulation, hand rails (stairwells) and glazed ceramic block tile (bathrooms and hallways). These activities are strictly prohibited as outlined in the Residential and Greek Life Handbook Room Personalization section. Specific detailed locations of substances can be viewed in the Residential and Greek Life or Facilities Management & Planning Offices. Please report any instances where you observe floor tiles or sprayed ceilings to be recently disturbed. Additionally complete work orders available at your hall front desk (area) for any maintenance requests in your room and living areas within the hall.
