Recognition of Excellence Award
November 2009
Faculty and Staff of Bruner Hall of Science
The UNK Staff Senate is privileged to recognize the Faculty and Staff within the Bruner Hall of Science with the November 2009 Recognition of Excellence Award. To formally recognize the Faculty and Staff in Bruner, the Staff Senate is hosting a recognition reception on Friday, November 6 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m., with a brief presentation ceremony at 8:15 a.m.
The Bruner Hall Faculty and Staff have endured almost 2 years of dust, dirt, and noise, not to mention a number of relocations, during the Bruner addition and renovation project, and they’ve done it with a positive can-do attitude and in many cases, gone above and beyond the call of duty. In particular, Dean Rycek applauds the leadership in each of the departments/programs within the building, but also wanted to underscore how each and every person one in the building worked hard to make the entire process a success.
It is important to keep in mind that Bruner Hall not only stayed open but also functional throughout the entire construction process and part of the reason why the project was completed a full semester ahead of time was because the Faculty and Staff cooperated in the critical transition periods between construction phases which often required very quick moves of labs and offices. All of the four academic departments/programs (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, & Health Sciences) as well as the Facilities staff, contractors, et al., share in this recognition of meeting the challenges. As Dean Rycek indicated during the building's dedication ceremony a few weeks ago, the productivity of all of these programs did not decline, in fact in some areas, they increased significantly in their productivity, despite all the challenges they faced.
In recognition for all of the efforts and in salute to all of their challenges, the Staff Senate is proud to honor the Faculty and Staff in Bruner Hall with the November 2009 Recognition of Excellence Award.
