Staff Senate is please to announce that the October 2005 Employee of the Month is Karla Bauer. Karla works in the Finance Office as an Accounting Technician and as the Perkins Loan Officer. Karla began her career at UNK on July 9, 1984 as an Accounts Payable Clerk and assumed the duties as the Perkins Loan Officer in 1989. She is a member of the Great Plains Collectors Network which covers a four state area.
As the Perkins Loan Officer, Karla insures that graduating seniors are aware of the rights and responsibilities as loan borrowers. Karla keeps herself informed by attending workshops and seminars. She developed a website for students that help them fulfill their obligations on-line, making the process user friendly and convenient. She makes every student question and concern a priority and addresses them in a timely manner. Many students have commented that Karla knows them by name and remembers them even when they have been away from campus for years.
Karla’s co-workers express her willingness to help others and to go the extra mile when needed. She greets everyone she comes in contact with a smile and a positive attitude. She is not only a co-worker but also a friend. She can always be counted on to get the job done. Karla performs her duties in a professional manner and places her customers and their needs as her number one priority. Karla is a tremendous asset to the University community as well as the community of Kearney as a whole.
Congratulations Karla!
