Riley Oestreicher
Employee of the Month
April 2009
The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Riley Oestreicher, Custodian for Facilities Management and Planning, as the April 2009 Employee of the Month. Riley has served the University of Nebraska at Kearney for 35 years. He exhibits a genuine love for this institution and takes pride in making UNK a better place through his work. At the present time, he is a custodian in Copeland Hall but has served various buildings in the time of his employment. The buildings that he has services have been a reflection of his job performance. He is always conscientious of issues and concerns that are brought up and diligent in getting issues resolved. He takes a personal interest in all department members, and will go well out of his way to help faculty and students in everyday matters. He is a benevolent person and many campus staff will attest to receiving special holiday cards, flowers and special gifts. He is always friendly, and ready with a warm greeting. One office professional said "he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need".
Riley Oestreicher’s devotion to his job, his pride in doing his job well, and his unfailing good humor are qualities for all to mirror. Riley will be retiring in June and will leave us with many memories of a "faithful co-worker and friend".
And for that, Staff Senate would like to recognize him as the April 2009 Employee of the Month.
