The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Judy Keubler, Office Associate in the Biology Department, as the February 2009 Employee of the Month.
Judy is not just a secretary, she is the life line of the Biology Department, and can answer all questions or put you in contact with someone who can answer them. She truly is the person responsible for the smooth workings of such a large department.
Judy’s ability to manage the research grants awarded to faculty in the department is impeccable. There are currently three research grants over five years awarded to our department and Judy handles the salary/benefits, consumables, travel, student pay, and indirect monies. The grant manager at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where the grant is housed, is impressed by Judy’s knowledge and skills when it comes to handling this grant. Judy keeps ahead of her workload, all the while helping students and being the first line of contact for our department. No matter how busy she is she will drop everything if a student or faculty member feels they have an emergency. Judy is what makes the department function smoothly without adding any extra worry to anyone else and she does it all with a smile on her face. The students continuously comment on how helpful and approachable Judy is. She also has a way of putting a personal touch on our department, from decorating for each holiday or season, to inviting people to her desk by keeping a basket of candy on her desk.
Through Judy’s hard work and selfless and giving nature the UNK Staff Senate would like to recognize her as UNK’s February 2009 Employee of the Month!
The Employee of the Month is sponsored by: UNK Athletics, UNK Theater, Campus Cuts, Chartwells and the Antelope Bookstore.
