Employee of the Month
January 2009
The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Michelle Smidt, Athletics Ticket Manager, as the January 2009 UNK Employee of the Month. Michelle began employment with Athletics in fall of 1991 as a work-study student and later applied for a full-time position.
Michelle is responsible for taking ticket orders, determining seating assignments, printing tickets and getting tickets out to customers. The bulk of the ticket orders are received in early August and need to be sent out before the first home football or volleyball game. Michelle sets up all the ticket sellers and ticket selling areas for football and is present during games to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Michelle is responsible for collecting, updating and entering insurance data for all the fall athletic teams, football, volleyball, cross country, golf and softball. All of this information needs to be complete before athletes can practice.
Michelle is in charge of all the personnel paperwork as well. She must get all new coaches, athletic personnel and all hourly personnel paperwork completed and entered on-line at the beginning of the school year.
Michelle carries out all of her assigned duties with great efficiency, with the customer’s best interest in mind, and with a good sense of humor. Michelle loves UNK and you can tell it by the way she deals with everyone whom she comes in contact with. Michelle is a great asset to the Department of Athletics and to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, therefore the UNK Staff Senate would like to recognize her as the January 2009 Employee of the Month!
