Jolene Williams, a Staff Secretary III for the Office of Admissions and the Honors Program, is the Staff Senate Employee of the Month for November 2004. Jolene began working for UNK as a student employee in Career Services. She later joined the Office of Admissions as a processor and then became the lead secretary for the office. In 1998, the Honors Program became a part of her responsibilities as well.

Jolene deals with difficult and complex issues daily, including international and domestic admissions. In processing international applications, she has to keep current with all of the new regulations for international students. In addition, she processes the counselors' travel logs, answers and administers responses to all of the e-mail that comes into the general Admissions' e-mail account, processes bills, takes phone calls from students and administrators, and maintains schedules for the directors

In the nomination for Employee of the Month, Jolene is described as "a tremendous contributor to our unity" and to "the strong teamwork attitude we have." Within the past three years, the Office of Admissions has experienced a great partnership with the Honors Program. A big part of this success is due to Jolene and her ability to share duties among the two offices.

"Further, Admissions could not function without the help of all of its processors and the behind-the-scenes work that gets done quickly and effectively. Jolene plays the most important role in making sure our director and the office personnel are provided with the tools and resources we need to meet and exceed our students' and parents' expectations."

For her exemplary work in both the Office of Admissions and the Honors Program, Staff Senate is pleased to name Jolene Williams, Employee of the Month for November.
