The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Donnette Zrust as the UNK Employee of the Month for March 2004.

Donnette Zrust, custodian for Conrad Hall and Residential & Greek Life, has been employed by the University of Nebraska at Kearney since November of 2002. Her duties are to maintain the office space for Residential & Greek Life and the living areas for the 40 residents of Conrad Hall. In addition, when necessary, she also maintains Martin Hall, which has 91 residents, and Ludden Hall, with 110 residents.

The students say they can always count on Donnette for a friendly hello and smile each day. The students recognize that through her work she strives to make their home in the hall a little nicer. With everything that Donnette does she always will go above and beyond, giving every task extra care. Whether it is repairing the hem in the draperies, scooping snow or cleaning and organizing the resource room work space, reserved for the 72 resident advisors, she continually provides the extra attention to detail. Her caring and professional manner always helps the students feel at ease and the attention to detail is greatly appreciated by the students of the hall. Donnette is ever vigil to ensure that the hall is kept clean and safe for the student and staff she serves.

Whatever task is at hand, Donnette is known for her upbeat attitude and her willingness to go well beyond the basic requirements and responsibilities. Often the work she does goes unnoticed, but the students and staff of Conrad Hall know the work she does benefits them daily. Those who work in the areas she maintains describe her as "…a truly gracious person who always wants to help others first."

It is a sincere pleasure for Staff Senate to name Donnette Zrust as the Employee of the Month for March 2004. Her commitment and dedication to the students and staff is sincerely appreciated.
