The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Stacy Darveau as the UNK Employee of the Month for February 2004.

Stacy Darveau, Staff Secretary III for the Department of Marketing, who serves as secretary to the department chair and 8 faculty members, is described as "boosting the spirits of all who come in contact with her. She has a professional demeanor while projecting a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to all."

Her technical abilities with the computer, camera and other equipment allow her to excel in all of her projects. For example, she was the first business secretary to handle the Access database entry requirements for the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the accrediting organization for business colleges. She was also the first to complete the Excel spreadsheet VITA information input that will be ported to the Access database for AACSB reports. In addition, she is adept at handling class scheduling, and is highly skilled at obtaining information from SAP, Bogie and the Internet.

Stacy maintains a cheerful demeanor even under trying circumstances. When the department moved from Men's Hall to West Center, she packed her office and helped pack the offices of faculty who were out of town. She made sure the phones were switched and worked to put the new quarters in order.

Further, she contributes greatly to the larger university community through her advocacy of, and effort with, new staff mentoring. She has also played an important support role with student organizations within the department, including Students in Free enterprise (SIFE) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Stacy exemplifies excellence in organizational citizenship on all levels, and she consistently goes beyond the expectations of her job description.

It is with sincere appreciation that Staff Senate gives their combined good wishes in recognizing Stacy Darveau as the February 2004 Employee of the Month.
