Juan Guzman
UNK Employee of the Month
June 2008

The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Juan Guzman, Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), as the June 2008 UNK Employee of the Month.
Juan is completing his first full year as Director and already has accomplished so much. OMA currently guides eight student organizations, including soon-to-be three Greek organizations and five planning committees. Juan is the founder of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc., the only Latino-based, multicultural fraternity on campus. He is a founder of the Hispanic Student Association (HSA), now one of the largest UNK student organizations and a founder of the Nebraska Cultural Unity Conference (NCUC), which helps persuade multicultural students to pursue their dreams and go into higher education.
Juan has planned and coordinated many OMA events that have been of tremendous benefit towards UNK students. He initiated OMA’s first annual Student Leaders Retreat which brought together returning students with first year students allowing them to get to know each other and to start building relationships.
Juan is not the typical 8-5 professional. He always makes the effort to support all of his groups and be in attendance at their events. “You can often find him helping students with their problems and making sure that they are going to be okay, he is a shoulder to cry on when others are in pain. He truly cares about his students, Mr. Guzman is not just a great UNK employee, he is a great person.”
Juan Guzman has not only contributed to his office and his students, but to the entire University. It is with great honor that the UNK Staff Senate recognizes Juan Guzman as the June 2008 UNK Employee of the Month.
The Employee of the Month is sponsored by: UNK Athletics, UNK Theater, Campus Cuts, Chartwells and the Antelope Bookstore.
