Childcare Teacher, Child Development Center
UNK Employee of the Month
The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Natasha Rethorst, Childcare Teacher for the Child Development Center, as the May 2008 UNK Employee of the Month.
“Miss Tasha” as she is known by her students and their parents, has been employed at the UNK Child Development Center since July of 2006. In her current position as the 2 and 3 year old childcare teacher, Tasha is responsible for planning and conducting activities for 18 children, supervising the assigned student staff, and overseeing the center’s closing activities on a daily basis. Tasha has the patience to work with the children as they move through the toddler years to preschoolers which can be an emotional time for both the children and the parents. Her work with the children includes helping them learn to talk, to eat and drink like adults, learning to control their emotions, and other advancements in their physical and emotional development. Anyone who visits her room can tell that she has managed to maintain a fun environment for the children to learn in. It is visible that the children love spending time there. When Tasha works with parents, she strives to keep them informed of how their children are doing. She is also there to lend an ear when a parent has a concern about their child’s development or provide a pat on the back when a child is doing well.
Tasha also works well with the other childcare teachers to ensure that the center runs smoothly and that as children transition into her room or out of her room, they are ready for the change. She also takes on additional duties when the director is absent. It is for her patience, teamwork and dedication that the UNK Staff Senate is honored to recognize Netasha Rethorst as the May 2008 UNK Employee of the Month.
The Employee of the Month is sponsored by: UNK Athletics, UNK Theater, Campus Cuts, Chartwells and the Antelope Bookstore.
