2002 Staff Award for Excellence

Presented by Chancellor Douglas A. Kristensen at the 2002 Fall Convocation

Peggy Nyffler - Assistant Director of Student Health

Linda Clark - Secretarial Specialist for the College of Business and Technology

Chancellor's comments:

This is our fourth year to honor outstanding contributions made by our professional and support staff, as they assist us to carry out our mission to our students and to the citizens of Nebraska.

Today, we are pleased to honor two outstanding UNK staff members.

The first recipient of this year’s S.A.F.E. award has been with UNK since 1986. A graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1972, and went on to earn her certification in College Health Nursing from the American Nurses Association. Her professionalism and dedication to her job and her community are the reasons she has been chosen for this award. She believes that any job worth doing is worth doing well; she gives 100% to everything she does and makes certain the task has been done properly. She is a motivating force in her department both at work and in encouraging others to volunteer in the community. I am pleased to present the Staff Award for Excellence to Peggy Nyffler. Peg, please come to the stage.

Our next honoree has been employed at UNK/KSC since 1969 with the exception of the period 1983-1988 when she worked for the Minden Public Schools. She has held a number of positions at UNK/KSC including Secretary Specialist in the Dean’s Office of the College of Business and Technology for the past nine years. While working full-time, she continued to work on her undergraduate degree and earned the B.S. in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Human Resource Management in 2001. This person was the employee of the month for November 1995 and was given KUDOS by the Board of Regents in December of 1995. She was a member of the Leadership Kearney class of 1996-97. She is known for her resourcefulness and her many activities on campus and in the community. Linda Clark, will you please come to the stage and accept your Staff Award for Excellence?

Congratulations to both Linda and Peg.
