In the 1992-93 academic year, the first $500 Office/Service Dependent Scholarship was awarded. This scholarship program is supported by individual donations through the annual fall University of Nebraska Foundation Drive. Through continued donations, the fund will grow to be self-supporting, granting $1,000 in scholarships each academic year.
Applications for the scholarship are available in the Financial Aid Office on February 1st and must be submitted by March 1st of each year. Students meeting the following criteria are eligible:
- Dependent of a regular office/service employee during the academic term for which the scholarship is awarded. The definition of a dependent will follow the same guidelines covering dependents on the University of Nebraska at Kearney Spouse/Dependent Waiver.
- Completed 28 hours or more working towards a degree and have declared a major in one of the University of Nebraska at Kearney Colleges. Must have been maintaining the minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) required for graduation from that college.
- Along with academic performance, need for assistance, extracurricular activities and work experience are considered in awarding the scholarship.
- The scholarship may apply to tuition and fees, books and/or room and board.
