Fauneil Meier
UNK Employee of the Month
December 2007

The UNK Staff Senate is privileged to recognize Fauneil Meier as the December 2007 Employee of the Month. On a daily basis, her average responsibilities include but are certainly not limited to: keeping multiple financial accounts, appointment scheduling, and campus outreach. She is an extremely organized person with a positive outlook and strives to make all processes as streamlined as possible.

However, it is her dedication to the International Affairs office, her fortitude to go above and beyond normal duties, as well as her willingness to embrace those “other assorted duties as assigned” that really makes Fauneil stand out. This semester, the International Center will receive close to 100 incoming International students from all parts or the world. Fauneil has kept accurate record of each student’s arrival information and made plans for their transport to UNK and reception by fellow students. The only phone number that most students carry with them while they travel is the main International Education number. Every weekend, Fauneil forwards this number to her personal cell phone to ensure that there are no stranded international students.

Fauneil also displays on a daily basis her importance as part of the International Student Services staff. She regularly demonstrates the fact that the student is the #1 priority on the UNK campus and that she is here to assist them. Due to language barriers and cultural differences International student may not convey questions or concerns in a fashion that is entirely understood. Many campus offices are accustomed to contacting the ISS office, specifically Fauneil, to determine the student’s needs. Fauneil will go out of her way to find out what the issue is and to direct the caller to the person who best can rectify the problem or who is the most knowledgeable in the given subject. Due to the fact that she believes that students are the reason we are here she goes out of her way to help student that arrive looking for assistance rather than sending them on a “wild goose chase” just because it’s not her job or she doesn’t have the time.

Fauneil also assists with International Student Applications, which are bulky and involve a lengthy process to get them admitted to UNK and to prepare the required immigration documents. Fauneil often approaches others to see what she can do to help; assists with the preparation of the application fee deposits, maintains the official list of new incoming students along with their arrival information, then coordinates their pickup and delivery to the UNK campus.

On a daily basis Fauneil’s positive upbeat attitude makes her colleague’s day more productive. When it comes to reliability, others know they can count on Fauneil, as she is here on a daily basis and available to help anyone who needs help.

As a result of all the does for the University, the UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize Fauneil Meier as the December 2007 UNK Employee of the Month.

The Employee of the Month is sponsored by: UNK Athletics, UNK Theater, Campus Cuts, Chartwells and the Antelope Bookstore.
