HVAC
UNK Department of the Month
October 2007
The UNK Staff Senate is privileged to recognize the Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Department within Facilities as the October 2007 UNK Department of the Month. Probably more than any other department, HVAC touches the lives of every single UNK student, staff, and faculty member every day.
Students, staff, and faculty, desire comfortable environments to work and study and when this isn’t the case they know who to call – the HVAC Dept. The plant operations provides heating and air-conditioning maintenance operations, preventive maintenance of campus boilers, chillers, distribution systems, cooling tower maintenance and related equipment, refrigerant management, energy management, and service contract compliance.
They are on call 24 hours a day so whatever time a problem arises they are there for the call. Never more was this demonstrated than during the ice storms in January. Given limited power and resources, HVAC did an outstanding job of going above and beyond the call of duty in order to keep essential areas of campus running.
It has been noted that HVAC staff are very knowledgeable about the operations and when they receive trouble calls they are quick to respond. They are very courteous and whatever the problem may be they make the caller feel that their concerns are validated.
For all of their hard work, the UNK Staff Senate is pleased to recognize the HVAC Department as the October 2007 UNK Department of the Month.
