UNK Employee of the Month
September 2007
The UNK Staff Senate is pleased to honor Marilyn Karash as the September 2007 Employee of the Month. Marilyn was hired by Kearney State College as a data entry operator in 1981 and currently works as a Computer Operator for Information Technology Services and serves as a Scantron operator, scanning tests and faculty evaluations for dozens of faculty members.
Marilyn is reliable and very detailed-oriented. She displays a friendly, positive attitude to everyone. Marilyn performs her duties in a professional manner and makes customer service a number one priority.
On a daily basis, Marilyn receives requests from various offices for reports, downloads, and labels that are time sensitive, so must be processed in a timely manner. Marilyn is responsible for maintaining the backup tapes for the Library (ROSI), for Platte, and for Bogie (SIS). On a weekly basis, she transports these vital backups to an off-site storage area. Although many reports are now electronic, many reports are still printed nightly on the main printer in Otto Olsen 109. Marilyn maintains that printer and distributes the reports as needed to the appropriate offices. These reports are for Human Resources, Budget Office, Payroll Office, Finance Office, and from the overnight SIS processing. The pay advises, grade mailers, suspension letters, and student bills are all specialty forms that Marilyn has to print, and then process through the folder/sealer, while maintaining the confidentiality of these items.
Marilyn ensures the confidentiality of thousands of tests, evaluations and reports. She knows staff from many departments, who regularly pick up tests, evaluations, and computer-generated output. Marilyn provides prompt, accurate service to faculty in grading tests. She assures that computer-generated output is distributed to the appropriate office.
For her commitment to service, for grading thousands of student exams and for scoring thousands of faculty evaluations, we are privileged to recognize Marilyn Karash as the September 2007 UNK Employee of the Month.
