Because of her outstanding service to her department, as well as to the University, the UNK Staff Senate is honored to recognize Deb Huryta as the August 2007 Employee of the Month. Deb has been employed as the Dual Career Program Director for UNK for the last two years. During that short time she has taken the Dual Career Program and revamped it to meet the accompanying partners’ needs. This has included contacting search committees via e-mail to outline her services, meeting with applicants for positions, contacting new hires immediately following their acceptance of employment regarding services available to them, providing one-on-one career coaching by request, assisting accompanying partners with networking opportunities in the community and assisting with the new employee orientation at UNK.
To further assist her with her job duties she has joined the CMI (Career Masters Institute) and the NRWA (National Resume Writers Association) and attended the national Dual Career Program Conference. Deb is also an active member of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on two committees. In 2006, Deb assisted 9 accompanying partners with finding employment within an average of 9 weeks compared to the national average of 4-6 months! Deb has become a welcoming face to new employees and their accompanying partners.
For these reasons, as well as a number of others, we are privileged to recognize Deb Huryta as the August 2007 UNK Employee of the Month.
