November 2006 Employee of the Month - Bridget Hermanson, Office Associate, Criminal Justice and Social Work

Bridget goes out of her way to be helpful to department faculty, students, and other University staff. While she is a strong team player, she has no problem accepting leadership for important projects. What is appreciated most about Bridget is her willingness to find new ways to address departmental needs. As an example, part of her departmental accreditation process requires keeping statistics on students. For several years, statistics from students was gathered, then compiled, and sent to the accrediting agency. This process involved students, faculty, and staff and demanded much time and effort. Through her creativity, Bridget was able to create a process where all the statistics was located and compiled with ease without involving anyone else. This new process not only saved time and effort, but it provided a more accurate picture of our student population.

Bridget has mastered departmental demands with incredible speed and accuracy. She is truly a gift to the Criminal Justice and Social Work program. As an administrator, Bridget is the best secretary anyone could hope for. She is dependable, responsible, willing to help out, finds ways to improve whatever system needing improvement, and most of all, seems to be able to see how all the pieces of her job fit together.

This is evident in the positive way she works with other department secretaries and is supportive of students’ needs. For example, when none of the department’s faculty could attend the Buffalo County Career Fair, Bridget was able to represent the department there.

Bridget’s colleagues are grateful for her many contributions to their program. Accordingly, the UNK Staff Senate is honored to recognize Bridget Hermanson as the November 2006 UNK Employee of the Month.

The Employee of the Month is sponsored by: UNK Athletics, UNK Theater, Campus Cuts, Chartwells and the Antelope Bookstore.
