The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Judy Buhlke as the UNK Employee of the Month for February 2003.

Judy Buhlke has served as Staff Secretary III in the Office of Residential and Greek Life since 1990. During the summer months, her primary responsibility is assigning rooms to more than two thousand incoming University of Nebraska at Kearney students. She reviews the student data that is submitted on housing contracts and information cards as she looks for the 'perfect' roommate for each residence hall student for the upcoming academic year. After assignments have been made and students have been notified, Judy consults with those who request changes. She gives students the personal attention they need during this important time in their college experience.

When residence hall room assignments are completed, Judy continues serving as a resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff. She is an excellent ambassador for UNK as she deals with a wide variety of student concerns ranging from roommate conflicts to mental health issues.

In 1995, when UNK adopted the Student Information System (SIS), Judy became the resident SIS expert in the Division of Residential and Greek Life. Since then, she has helped train colleagues to use the program correctly, and she continues to work closely with Information Technology Services on SIS working variables.

Judy's commitment, pleasant demeanor, and helpful attitude make her an invaluable part of the Residential and Greek Life team. Because of her dedication to students, to colleagues, and to the wider UNK community, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name Judy Buhlke as the Employee of the Month for February 2003.
