The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Susan Deiger as the UNK Employee of the Month for January 2003.
Susan Deiger began working for the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1998 as the part-time theatre box office manager. In spring 2000, she became full-time secretary for the Theatre Department while continuing her box office manager duties. Since that time she has also assumed production-related responsibilities, including creating programs, designing marketing tools, managing shows, and coordinating the publicity of all theatre events.
Susan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Previously she had worked in regional theatres in Georgia, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.
In addition to her responsibilities at UNK, Susan has served as Director of the Kearney Area Arts Council since 1999. Her primary duties include scheduling summer concerts, writing grants for funds, and maintaining Arts Council business records.
Susan is dedicated and professional in her work performance, and she demonstrates a commitment to details. Her positive attitude is an important attribute since she is often the first person to greet new students and welcome returning students to the department. She is extremely helpful to new and returning faculty and her loyalty and hard work are great examples for all.
Because of her dedication to students, to colleagues, and to the wider UNK community, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name Susan Deiger as the Employee of the Month for January 2003.
