The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Linda Johnson as the UNK Employee of the Month for October 2002.
Linda Johnson is the Graduate Admissions Coordinator in the Office of Graduate Studies and Research. Linda began her work in the Graduate Office in March 1997 after serving for several years as the secretary for the Department of Educational Administration. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
As the Graduate Admissions Coordinator, Linda's responsibilities include supervising the admissions support staff, overseeing the graduate admissions process, providing student support services, working with international students, serving as office liaison to graduate programs, directing recruitment efforts, and providing expertise in the use of technology.
To these and other tasks, Linda brings a spirit of enthusiasm and competence. She is dedicated to providing the very best to students and faculty. It is not unusual, for example, for international students to bring her small gifts when they arrive at UNK as a token of their appreciation of her efforts on their behalf.
Linda is always friendly and courteous in her interactions with students and faculty. In addition, she has formed professional relationships with her counterparts at the other university campuses and is providing leadership at that level as well. Linda willingly takes on new responsibilities and constantly looks for ways to improve services to students, faculty and departments.
Because of her dedication to students, to colleagues, and to the wider UNK community, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name Linda Johnson as the Employee of the Month for October 2002.
