The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Barbara Harshbarger as the UNK Employee of the Month for April 2002.
Barbara Harshbarger, secretary in the Department of Criminal Justice performs her secretarial duties in an exemplary manner. In the last five years she made all the support and travel arrangements that led to the successful hiring of two new faculty members and gave superb support to the Annual Criminal Justice Conference through budget management, accommodation scheduling, travel arrangements, and appropriate reimbursements for all guest speakers.
Ms. Harshbarger routinely assists the department chairman in preparing all paperwork sent to different criminal justice agencies to arrange for internships. This year, more than 40 students received placements throughout the United States. Barb maintains constant liaison with the interns who are grateful for her excellent advice. She trains and supervises student workers who then perform their tasks in an efficient manner.
Because she is truly the outstanding departmental secretary who willingly and routinely meets all obligations and challenges, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name Barbara Harshbarger the Employee of the Month for April 2002.
