The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Gail Sims-Aubert as the UNK Employee of the Month for December 2001.
Gail Sims-Aubert is an Area Coordinator for Residential and Greek Life at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She began her career in Residence Life as a hall council member; then she progressed through the positions as night desk assistant, graduate student manager of University Heights Apartments, and hall director of an international hall of 150 students to her present assignment. Gail was also very instrumental in assisting with the UNK summer conference operations and making that program run smoothly. Upon graduation Gail left UNK to take her first full time position at Southwest Missouri State as a hall director. Two years ago Gail returned to UNK as an Area Coordinator to oversee the operations of a 1200-student complex, 6 hall directors, two assistant hall directors and 35 resident advisors.
Gail is always looking for ways to grow and experience new situations. She is trustworthy, capable, innovative, organized and loyal. Staff and students alike comment often that they enjoy working and spending time with Gail.
Gail's intelligence and vision in the area of student development helps her to analyze constantly various scenarios in order to better serve our students. She also has the ability to take on any project and to work on all aspects to its completion. Gail has been in charge of the Fall Hall Director training and has done an outstanding job.
Student success is Gail’s main focus. She makes many critical decisions daily, and often counsels students who find themselves in difficult situations. The department relies with confidence on her ability to consult with others and to make decisions that will best serve students.
Ever friendly and thoughtful of others, Gail brings a positive outlook on life to her profession. She communicates well and takes the time to treat each person she encounters as someone special. Gail is also very intuitive and receptive to the needs of others; these traits lead her to react appropriately and professionally in all circumstances.
Because of Gail Sims-Aubert's professionalism and commitment to her department, the University of Nebraska at Kearney has selected her as the December Employee of the Month.
