The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee announces Lois Flagstad as the UNK Employee of the Month for October 2001.
Lois Flagstad accepted the position of Interim Director of Residential and Greek Life May 2000, while continuing her role as the Director of the UNK's Counseling Center. Lois has been a very positive influence and encouraging mentor for both offices.
During Dr. Lois Flagstad's short tenure with the Office of Residential and Greek Life, she has been instrumental in moving the office into the renovation phase to assist UNK in achieving the status of premier undergraduate residential campus. The projects she has coordinated have included painting and replacement of furniture in student rooms. Dr. Flagstad has also been instrumental in securing funding to continue the needed refurbishment.
The UNK Student Fall Orientation program was designed by Dr. Flagstad and has become a comprehensive orientation program that assists students with their transition from high school to their new life at UNK. This program has continued to grow each year and is one of UNK's showcase areas each fall.
Dr. Flagstad has taken on the responsibility of curriculum development, resource acquisition, and coordination of the course in the Counseling and School Psychology Department for students working on the Student Life emphasis. Lois is a strong advocate for the development of the Student Life preparation program.
Dr. Flagstad consistently shows respect for all team members regardless of their position in the university hierarchy. She is concerned about them as whole persons, not merely as employees.
UNK is pleased to select Dr. Lois Flagstad as the Employee of the Month for October 2001.
