Rick Robinson, an Electrician II in the Facilities Department at UNK, was nominated for Employee of the Month by his supervisor. When writing about Rick's exemplary service and notable contribution to the university, his supervisor noted that Rick has shown marked improvement through the last two years in his attitude and work ethic. His newfound attitude and enthusiasm for being customer oriented and doing the best job possible positively affects other maintenance employees. Rick's quality of work is commendable. He is well versed in electrical code and the techniques of the electrical field. He strives for perfection, and seeks answers to questions regarding his work; he never quits until satisfied with the answer or solution. Rick is industrious. He will build for himself or order built whatever is needed to complete his job effectively and efficiently. His communication skills and cooperation with supervisors and the public is commendable. Rick is also dependable. He always reports to work early, responds to emergency calls at night, and schedules time off to accommodate others. This way, a competent electrician covers the campus at all times.
Rick projects a teamwork attitude by jumping in to help others accomplish their goals. He believes that there is nothing that he cannot do, and this is evident in his ability to work with others throughout the campus. He willingly helps the plumber, HVAC, grounds and custodial staff in a number of their projects.
In a job in which versatility is everything, Rick is willing to learn new tasks, adjust to them, and assist others in the completion of their tasks. He uses his many talents in electrical, mechanical and structural background to assist the university and peers in maintaining an excellent facility. He is a self-starter who sees his projects through to a satisfactory conclusion. He stands up for what he believes in (hard work, exceptional performance and perfection) and projects that image to all around him.
Because of his willingness to help others, his excellence in job performance, and his high integrity, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to recognize Rick Robinson as Employee of the Month for April 2001.
