Donna Walker has worked in various capacities in the office at the Nebraskan Student Union since August 1985. Currently, she is the secretary to the director of the Union. Because of her long association with the Student Union, Donna is highly knowledgeable about the activities that take place there. Her performance is always greater than what is expected of her, for she is never too busy to add a special touch to proposed events and projects. In providing resources for others, Donna demonstrates that she has a complete grasp of her responsibilities and how to best accomplish her tasks. Donna provides, efficiently and unceasingly, to all Union users the personal attention that reflects the distinctive higher education mission of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Donna enjoys being part of the team; she never seems to want to be in the limelight or to receive special attention. Rather, it is Donna who tries to make others feel special. On birthdays, graduations, and celebrations of all kinds, her cake is always there to add to the occasion. Former employees and alumni frequently come to campus to visit her.
Donna displays excellence daily. She is prompt in her work, always on time, provides timely information to one and all, and is more than willing to help others complete their tasks. She is meticulous and accurate with all her work, manages her time and the entire office to maximize the use of limited resources, and makes insightful decisions concerning time sensitive situations. She delegates work assignments in a non-threatening manner to those with the appropriate skills and cooperates well with personnel in other offices. When Donna recognizes that a task or problem is beyond her expertise, she wisely defers those decisions to the appropriate supervisor.
Because of her quiet but efficient presence in the Nebraskan Union and because of her unflagging support of the campus mission, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name Donna Walker the Employee of the Month for February 2000.
