Tracey Brown began her work at the University of Nebraska at Kearney June 3, 1996. She is currently the administrator of the only computer-based testing facility on campus, run through the department of Professional Teacher Education. Her nominator indicates that Tracey is highly organized, industrious, and self-motivated. She works without a lot of direct supervision and handles problems as they arise. She rarely requires assistance from her supervisor, instead determining the solution to whatever problems she encounters. She is a very hard and energetic worker.
In describing how Tracey projects a teamwork attitude, her nominator explains that she has willingly undertaken the administration of a variety of new computer based tests. She researched and determined which additional tests UNK can offer and proceeded to do whatever needed to be done to bring those tests to campus for the benefit of both the campus and our students. The Computer Based Testing Center is located in the Instructional Technology Lab. When there are no tests to be given, Tracey goes to the lab and assists students with computer problems. That is not part of her job; she just does it to be helpful. She administers tests on Saturdays just to provide that service for students who cannot come in on weekdays.
Tracey is committed to excellence in her daily work. She has few problems at the Testing Center because she is very proactive. She "hunts" for future problems and solves them before they cause students problems. Our contract with the Educational Testing Service surveys examinees to determine their satisfaction with the testing center. The UNK center is consistently coming in as one of the best centers in the Midwest. Tracey works with student workers to train them in the rules, regulations, and procedures to run the testing facility. Many centers across the nation have been shut down due to problems with staff. Under Tracey's supervision, UNK always received very high marks in that area. Her employees are happy, productive, and well trained.
Because Tracey Brown is a highly motivated, exemplary employee who epitomizes excellence in her daily work, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name her the Employee of the Month for January 1999.
