Secretary for the Department of Education Nebraska network for Educational Renewal is the UNK Employee of the Month for November!

Gail Kegley was hired in November 1996 as a part-time staff secretary for the Department of Education Nebraska Network for Educational Renewal. Her supervisor nominated her for Employee of the Month because Gail provides exemplary service in her daily work to her department. She is willing to work hard and willing to dig into any project or assignment given to her. She is open to all new projects given to her and takes the initiative to complete the assignments by their due dates. Gail has developed databases/mailing lists for the Nebraska Network for Educational Renewal (NeNER) project. She is courteous and easy to work with and is always smiling and willing to assist wherever and whenever needed.

Gail Kegley definitely has a "teamwork" attitude, according to her supervisor. She works effectively, efficiently, and accurately so that assignments are completed, helping the overall teamwork attitude of the department. Projects are forwarded to departments/individuals in a timely manner for further action. Her understanding and determination contribute to the effectiveness and progress of the NeNER project mission and goals. NeNER is a consortium of ten colleges/universities, the Nebraska Department of Education, and their 34 partner schools and districts. In addition, Gail lends a helping hand to the College of Education and Continuing Education Deans' offices when needed.

Gail takes great pride in the work that she does, and the quality of that work is excellent. She completes her assignments without being asked and with little supervision. If she doesn't know the answer, she seeks it out. She communicates with the NeNER network both in writing and orally, and has a good working relationship with those representatives.

Her nominator indicates that Gail possesses the following qualities which display her contribution to high staff morale and sound judgement: a positive attitude, conscientiousness, taking ownership, producing consistently high quality work, and taking the initiative. She has been a quiet, supportive force in the department.

Because of these qualities, the University of Nebraska at Kearney has selected Gail Kegley as Employee of the Month for November 1998.
