Charles McGraw joined the University of Nebraska at Kearney June 1, 1991 and currently coordinates the College of Business and Technology Computer Labs at the West Center Building, teaches on an adjunct basis, and is the computer "go-to" person for the College.
Charles' nominator reports that Charles is a very busy person who has responsibility for running the labs, and yet he goes out of his way to help others. He is pleasant and helpful to colleagues in all departments and is committed to providing the best help he can. His dean reports that Charles is a real asset to the College in the information technology area and that the entire college depends on his computer expertise.
Charles supervises two main computer labs for the College of Business and Technology which involves, in part, hiring and supervising the student lab assistants, handling the scheduling of labs, ordering equipment, supplies and software applications, and repair of equipment for those labs. In addition, he handles all the work on faculty computers, installing software, handling moves of faculty computers as faculty change offices, and repairing faculty machines if possible. He has become the information technology expert in the area of equipment and software. Recently Charles handled the researching and ordering of 110 computers valued at more than $270,000 for his college. His nominator and his dean indicate that Charles treats everyone with respect and in turn people in West Center respect him and know they can seek his help and expertise.
Charles was an enthusiastic contributor to the technology initiative recently formulated at UNK. He was extremely helpful in designing a workable plan of action for future technology implementations, given his experience with faculty and students. Charles works well with diverse groups of people. His positive attitude was an asset to the project. He serves as an excellent role model to other young professionals across campus.
Because of his many contributions to the university through his interaction with students, faculty and staff, and because of his teamwork attitude and professional demeanor, the University of Nebraska at Kearney takes pride in conferring its Employee of the Month Award on Charles McGraw.
