Gary Gibbons, a Custodial Supervisor in the Facilities Division of the University of Nebraska at Kearney since April 1995, was promoted from Custodian II because of his helpful attitude and ability to work with people. Gary spends long hours at the University doing not only his work but helping others complete their assignments.
Gary was nominated by several members of the custodial personnel he supervises because of his willingness to help any way he can. They feel he goes beyond the duties of his office and is always pleasant and helpful in suggesting better ways to accomplish work assignments. He is willing to pitch in when staff is absent due to illness or injury. He is described as a good teacher, in that he gives instructions and demonstrations in a way that every employee can understand. Staff appreciates the way Gary does not put things off and acts quickly on problems and requests.
Because of his willingness to pitch in and help, his up-beat spirit, and his strong knowledge of the job, he has developed high staff morale with the custodians he supervises. The University of Nebraska at Kearney recognizes Gary Gibbons as Employee of the Month for January 1997.
