The UNK Staff Senate Employee Recognition Committee Announces Graduate Studies and Research as the UNK Department of the Month for June 2002.

The Office of Graduate Studies and Research, and the UNK Research Services Council (RSC), promotes student research, scholarship, and creative activity conducted in collaboration with faculty. These activities provide graduate students the opportunity for scholarly exploration and discovery and are viewed as a vital component of a graduate education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

During the last academic year, the Graduates Studies and Research Department achieved several significant accomplishments. A few of those accomplishments were:

  • Hosted the 2002 Student Research Day on April 22. Student Research Day (SRD) is designed to provide students the opportunity to display the results of scholarly efforts conducted collaboratively with faculty members. SRD encourages dissemination of research/creative activity from all disciplines represented in the UNK academic community. A record number of research papers and projects were presented during the day, which culminated with an award presentation in the afternoon.

  • Sponsored a record number of students participating in NCUR (National Conference on Undergraduate Research). UNK always has an outstanding number of students participating for an institution of this size.

  • Continued support of the Office of Sponsored Programs. During the last fiscal year, the Office of Sponsored Programs oversaw a record amount of grants written and grant monies received by faculty and staff at UNK.

Because of the dedication to students, to faculty and to the wider UNK community, the University of Nebraska at Kearney is pleased to name the Graduate Studies and Research department as the Department of the Month for June 2002.
