The Employee Recognition Committee of the Staff Senate of UNK is proud to announce the selection of the Human Resources as December's recipient of the Department of the Month Award.
The Department of the Month Award was initiated by the committee and Staff Senate as a way to recognize each month a department on campus that stands out in a positive way, be it for sponsoring an event, providing excellent service, exercising teamwork, showing unique initiative, or for other beneficial reasons.
The mission of the Human Resources Office is to provide innovative service to the University and its staff while maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism.
To accomplish this mission, the Human Resources Office fills a variety of roles within UNK. One role of Human Resources is to assist and counsel employees in regards to their benefits and issues involving their personal and professional lives. Another role of Human Resources is to act as a part of the administrative team. This role entails providing professional expertise in regards to personnel policies and procedures, labor law compliance, performance management practices and the daily administration of payroll, benefit programs, recruitment and classification/compensation.
The UNK Staff Senate and its Employee Recognition Committee congratulate the Human Resources Department for all they have done with the University wide classification and compensation system called NU Values, development of the Child Care Center, joining the Public Sector Task Force in offering training on campus, and administering Advanced Connections Training Modules. For a job well done and for upholding the university's commitment to excellence we are proud to award Human Resources the Department of the Month of December 2001.
